Week 2 - July 4, 2008

Hola from Jerez again! :) Happy 4th of July to you all! I'm sad I can't be there to celebrate with you, but I have having a good time here. Although I didn't get to celebrate one of my favorite holidays, we did have two parties in a row here. I will get to that a little later!

Okay, so this week has been much more restful than the last. It has been nice to lay low and spend some time reading and just enjoying being in such a beautitul place.

I think the last time I updated, it was Monday, so I will start with Tuesday. Ever since I last updated, it has rained everyday, so thank you for the prayers for rain! It rained Tuesday, most of the day, but we needed it! That evening we had a birthday party for Ben's son, Nehemiah. He turned one and is just about the cutest thing ever! We had a big party and a lot of people from the rancho came. Ben barbequed chicken and we had a really good cake. It was really good.

Wednesday, Ben , Diana, the kids, and I went to one of the poorest ranchos around, Villa Hermosa. In Palmas Altas, almost (if not all) the houses have indoor plumbing with showers. In Villa Hermosa, they don't even have outhouses! We went and visited on of Ben's friends houses, Daniel, but he wasn't there, so we stayed for a little bit and talked to his family. Afterwards, we went to another house. Ben met them last time he was here and they are one of the wealthiest families in the village. We had lunch there (she is an amazing cook!!) and then headed back to Palmas.

Thursday was a little bit busier. We headed back to Guadalupe Victoria to spend some more time with the kids. We sang songs, played Volleyball, and Diana shared another Bible Story with the children. It is always a lot of fun there. Then, we headed back to get ready for the second party of the week! Jose Angel's middle school graduation was that evening and it was really cool! There were a bunch of dance routines done by kids of all ages. They didn't get to have the ceremony part, because of rain, but it was still fun anyway.

Today is Friday, and we are in Jerez to get a few things done. I am making a flyer for the Baseball camp I am leading next week and Ben is preparing his lessons for after the camp. I think it is going to be a lot of fun!

Although I am having a good time, I sure do miss you guys! Hope all is well and I will update again soon! Love you!

Hi Honey

Kisha had her Baby! His name is Jett Edward Nickel. He was born July 2nd.

Mom and I went to Hannibal to spend the day with Rita and Chris.Had a great time with them and the kids. We had to take Duke (couldn't stand to see him in the pen all day). We went downtown to the craft fair. Duke was on a very short leash. He was very popular, but wore himself out trying to go every which way. I had a lady draw a caricature of him. She was really good at drawing kids, but sucked at dogs. Anyway, it's yours when you get home.

Hope the baseball lesson goes well.
We miss you and love you very much!
Duke sends his love too!

Love

Hey Sissy! I'm glad to hear about the rain!! It sounds like you are having a fantastic times. You've got my prayers about the baseball camp. I know it will probably be hard but I know you will make it fun for everyone! :D! I went down to the riverfront tonight but it wasen't that good. O'Fallon is much better. I was thinking about when we were younger and went to OFallon and Dad also shot off a bunch. It made me think of you and how I miss you. When you come home you have to stay here for a little while? Okay?? I miss you sissy and I'm so proud of you for all that you have done getting out of your comfort zone and what-not. I love you so much and I hope you are having a blast!! LOVE YOU!!!! :D

Hey Kat,

I'm glad to hear you are having some fun. I've tried to e-mail you the last couple of weeks hopefully you will get this. One of your e-mails you was asking for games for the kids. The only thing I could think of was hop-scotch.

We went to the Catfish Place last night and watched them shoot off the fireworks. They were really good.

We will go celebrate Holden's birthday tomorrow. He will be the big 4.

The kids said to tell you Hi.

Talk to you soon.

Love,

Aunt Ellen

It sounds so amazing. It is definately a trip worth while. I hope you are finding God in great amazing ways. I can't wait to see all the pictures. I bet it is so beautiful.
